Three Identical Strangers: Wild documentary. I’m not even sure if the filmmaking was good, it’s just a crazy story that gets crazier and crazier. The wrap-up might leave a bit to be desired but this was a trip. ****
The Spy Who Dumped Me: Kate McKinnon rules. Otherwise, fun enough action comedy blah blah blah. **1/4
Hearts Beat Loud: On one hand a breezy little movie about a dad and daughter connecting through music, on the other hand kind of feels like a 90-minute infomercial for a couple songs. The songs are good and Nick Offerman is in it… it just feels a little unnecessary. But Ted Danson is here too so I dunno, it’s bare minimum pretty good. **3/4
Leave No Trace: An interesting premise (guy lives with his daughter off the grid and they’re found and have to assimilate to society) results in a movie with some DEPTH where not a lot happens and also everything happens. Foster’s a little over-acty at times though. ***3/4
Sicario: Day of the Soldado: It’s the world of Sicario but lacking all the intensity and subtlety and atmosphere of the original. Solid follow-up, but more a solid straight action movie than the classic it is following. ***1/4
