The French Dispatch: Keep waiting for Wes Anderson to jump a shark but he just doesn’t, even if the tales are a little more scattered. The master of aesthetic continues his dominance. ****1/4
Spencer: Kristen Stewart’s performance playing Princess Diana stuck in the horror show that is the British royals is phenomenal, though the film itself has a pretty unpleasant vibe. ***1/2
Cmon Cmon: Felt like one of those indie movies they used to release in the 90s. It’s a series of black-and-white interviews as vignettes led by excellent lead performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman, who is a child. ***3/4
Flee: Similar to Persepolis from over a decade ago, an outsider’s story told brilliantly and affectingly through animation. ****
Eternals: You can’t introduce 12 superheroes at once. You just can’t do it. **1/4
