5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: Ron’s Gone Wrong, The Tender Bar, 8-Bit Christmas, West Side Story, The King’s Man

Ron’s Gone Wrong: This was freaking adorable. And smart. But really just so freaking adorable. The best and most unique animated kids feature I have seen in a long time. ****1/2

The Tender Bar: How and why is George Clooney so bad at directing movies? It doesn’t make sense. Nostalgia delivered so earnestly it felt like an SNL bit. *1/2

8-Bit Christmas: Not great, but packed with enough warmth and references to be worth a watch. ***1/4

West Side Story: I don’t really like musicals and Ansel Elgort is as dry as my mouth after a couple bong rips. Other than that, this was good. ***1/4

The King’s Man: The third movie of the Kingsman franchise is a prequel, and while it takes a lot more swings (Rasputin!?) it isn’t nearly as impressive or satisfying as the first or even second. **3/4
