5 Star Movies: The Man Who Invented Christmas, Marshall, All Eyez on Me, Only the Brave, Goodbye Christopher Robin

The Man Who Invented Christmas: I support Dan Stevens doing more stuff, but this was a bit of a bummer for a movie about the making of A Christmas Carol and it lost me a bit in the middle. **

Marshall: The choice to make this all about one case helps and hurts the movie – the case has meat and keeps things contained, but there’s also a lot of Marshall life story left on the table. ***1/2

All Eyez on Me: It’s Wikipedia on film, a very by-the-numbers 2Pac biopic. 2Pac is an interesting character, but there’s not much here. **

Only the Brave: What a macho-ass movie… a straightforward tale of a bunch of badass fire fighters. ***1/2

Goodbye Christopher Robin: All ya want is a Winnie the Pooh movie and it ends up a film about PTSD. It’s a fine movie about the author of Winnie the Pooh and father of the actual Christopher Robin, but it’s a bit of a downer. **3/4
