Gloria Bell: This is a character study, and by that I mean a movie with a tremendous central performance but also a movie that feels tremendously slow. I liked watching Julianne Moore be Gloria Bell, I wish there was more for her to do as Gloria Bell. ***1/2
The Best of Enemies: I’m not sure this did justice to the layers of this story, but it’s a hell of a story. Sam Rockwell and Taraji P. Henson going toe-to-toe was good shit, and the ending hovers around hokey but is as feel-good as a movie can get. ***1/4
Stockholm: Ethan Hawke, man. This is about a bank robbery done by some normal evryday dudes and while it’s a fine film it’s really just about Ethan Hawke, man. ***1/4
The Souvenir: Tilda Swinton is on her bullshit again and her daughter’s along for the ride. This felt like a bunch of vignettes with really good acting. There’s a quality to it, but it was a bummer to actually watch. **
The Hustle: They are trying, everybody is trying, but this never goes anywhere above an amusing change of scenery for Anne Hathaway. **1/2
