Juliet Naked: Why aren’t Rose Byrne and Chris O’Dowd in more stuff? This is a romantic comedy that isn’t all that funny, but the performances (including Ethan Hawke) keep it watchable. **1/2
Nothing Like a Dame: Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, and two other Dame’s I’m not familiar with dish about life and art and dudes for an hour and twenty minutes and I can’t say you need to see it but respect to everybody involved. b>***1/2
I Think We’re Alone Now: An apocalypse indy with Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning that technically was fine, just didn’t really get me ever. **1/4
The Miseducation of Cameron Post: Young high school kids get sent to gay conversion camp. Some of the ideas here (feeling physically safe with those in charge but untrusting of them) were interesting to see play out. A fine movie with a beautiful closing shot. ***1/4
Skate Kitchen: Heck of a little slice-of-life movie about a skateboarding teen and her new friends figuring shit out. I’m a sucker for city kids that seem authentic in movies. ***3/4
