Pacific Rim: Uprising: Here’s a movie that leans into exactly what it is. There might be some kind of allegory or deep meaning overseeing this whole thing, but at the end of the day it’s huge robots fighting each other. And that’s fine. ***
The Party: Completely pretentious, but I’m a mark for black-and-white and am always up for a bunch of actors in a small movie just ACTING. **1/2
The Insult: Love a movie where a small spark sends everything out of control. Here, a verbal insult leads to an international incident. Great acting, pacing, and I learned something too. Phenomenal movie all-around. ****1/2
Entanglement: Feel-good ending aside, a crap movie. And I think Thomas Middleditch is awesome. But you can just feel the over-writing / wannabe deep-ness through the screen and no action by any character feels true. *
I Kill Giants: A heartwarming and quirky movie about a young girl dealing with tragedy. The shots of the giants (that she will presumably kill) are incredible. The quirk might scare some folks off, but this is well worth it. ***3/4
