5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: The Glass Castle, Breathe, Kodachrome, Outside In, Anon

The Glass Castle: A very good very serious family drama that made me laugh out loud a few times. Woody Harrelson can ACT. ****

Breathe: An excellent biopic with a whole lot of British-ness and a tremendous central performance from Andrew Garfield as a man paralyzed from polio. ***1/2

Kodachrome: I didn’t buy Jason Sudeikis and Elizabeth Olsen as a couple for one finger-lickin’ second but from the standpoint that this exists as a well-intentioned tribute to a once-popular product rendered irrelevant by time, I was into it. ***

Outside In: This is a movie about Jay Duplass having some unresolved issues with Edie Falco, his former teacher who gets him out of prison. It’s a well-made movie with a per usual Edie Falco performance, but it’s one of those small films where the performances and situations are so authentic that it can get a little boring. ***

Anon: Stupid boring sci-fi movie with lead actor Clive Owen looking visibly bored. DUD
