5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: RBG, Overboard, Class Rank, Fahrenheit 451, The Land of Steady Habits

RBG: Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a fascinating American story and this documentary does that story justice. It’s very much a fawning tribute, but it’s not like anybody wants to see some expose on RBG. Interesting lady, interesting movie. ***1/2

Overboard: On one hand, this isn’t a very interesting movie – super standard rom-com that has people not really acting like people. On the other hand, I am sure many folks would find this movie delightful. Anna Farris is charming man. ***

Class Rank: Boy runs for school board, boy meets girl, girl manages boy’s campaign. This is a sweet little movie about youthful hope and public service. ***1/2

Fahrenheit 451: I wanted to like this as it’s a classic story and any cast led by Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon is a great cast… but even though there are a lot of interesting ideas going around, it’s just not very interesting to watch any of them play out here. That sucks. **

The Land of Steady Habits: There’s a mid-life crisis and divorce and drugs and some artsy shots and everybody is acting good and this is a fine little movie. ***
