Battle of the Sexes: Steve Carell and Emma Stone doing anything together is inherently good so them hamming it up here is tremendous. A fun movie that maybe didn’t quite have legs for two hours. ***1/2
Blade Runner 2049: I’m fully willing to admit it just might not be for me, but this had the issue I had with the first one: looks incredible, fascinating ideas… I just wish the story was more interesting. ***1/2
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women: It is incredible to think of all the folks who just wanted to see another Wonder Woman movie and here we’ve got a movie about a thruple. I’ll tell ya hat though – great performances, interesting story… it’s a good movie. ***3/4
Paddington 2: Dawwww just the best, a movie that tells cynicism to go fuck itself. Charming, sweet, and on top of that incredible care put into making every shot look great. The pop-up storybook London scene is incredible, the old man and his wife bantering on the train is fun, and Paddington’s red sock causing all the inmates clothes to turn pink is a classic. *
All the Money in the World: A little long, a little straightforward, but a solid drama about an interesting story (the Getty kidnapping). If anything, that full scenes were re-shot with a new actor and quickly spliced in for the release is an impressive feat of filmmaking. **3/4
