This is the leftovers of the G1 finals show, which was capped off by an incredible final between Tetsuya Naito and Kenny Omega that I’d put over any of the Omega/Okada series.
The Shibata return and promo actually being shown on AXS is so awesome. Was so epic seeing that live at 4AM on NJPW World.
1. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title: The Young Bucks [c] vs. Ryusuke Taguchi & Ricochet
Just batty speed and countering and timing and precision. Ricochet’s leg maybe being hurt gave it a little hook. Taguchi brought the drama. Ricochet catching the Meltzer Driver by setting Nick up for a powerbomb was amazing. The diving ass interrupting the Meltzer Driver leading to the finish was great too. The Young Bucks beatdown wasn’t the greatest but this was good. ***1/4
2. IWGP Tag Team Title: War Machine [c] vs. Cody Rhodes & Hangman Page
Kind of a dud of a match, War Machine have some fun spots but it’s a very lifeless New Japan tag. Cody and Page do the most garbage, non-credible beating. **1/4
