5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: Crip Camp, How to Build a Girl, Emma, The Lovebirds, Sonic the Hedgehog

Crip Camp: Look – we’re all honest now, right? This movie is wonderful, but you need to look inward and ask yourself if you are willing to tolerate long footage of the mentally handicapped being given time to speak and articulate feelings. If you are, god damn pal – what a ride. Great story, wild footage – another OBAMA doc that is really good. ***3/4

How to Build a Girl: Beanie Feldstein kicks ass but the setting for this – The Music Industry – didn’t quite hit for me, nor did the English accent. **

Emma: I wish it didn’t but it takes something more than this for a Jane Austen movie to reach out and grab me. Appreciate the efforts, but I couldn’t lock in. Hoped for more comedy from the romantic comedy. *3/4

The Lovebirds: Love Kumail, love Issa, and as a showcase for them feeding off each other this is fine. As anything else though it doesn’t work, another Netflix action rom-com that is a little all over the place and not as funny as it probably should be. **1/2

Sonic the Hedgehog: Ben Schwartz is Sonic and Jim Carrey is skinny Robotnik – light, basic, and FUN!!! **3/4
