The Outfit: Mark Rylance plays a tailor for the mob and he’s just a really actor. There might be a good old-fashioned twist too. ***1/2
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: The Sonic movie world could be so much brighter and more interesting to look at, but Sonic and Jim Carrey were back for another round of pleasant enough movie-making. Knuckles and Tails were there, too! **3/4
Emergency: Three buddies (one of them the excellent RJ Cyler) have a night out but the movie isn’t just that, as at some point it starts Asking Questions and gets all existential but also doesn’t get weird and off-putting. Pretty good! ***3/4
Hustle: I got really into basketball during the pandemic so a basketball movie with tons of cameos (and actually starring a professional player) was going to be an easy layup (oh!) but isn’t it great when Adam Sandler blends drama with his comedy? He really is incredible! And the movie really is all-around great. ****1/2
Spiderhead: Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller headline a decent, forgettable thriller that’s probably the best Netflix original movie in years. **3/4
