Beckett: John David Washington is one of the most consistently watchable actors working, but this Netflix action movie couldn’t seem to settle on style or substance so it ended up just sort of existing. **3/4
Vacation Friends: Generally a dumb movie but at least we can say John Cena and Lil Rel starred in a movie together? I read somewhere that Lil Rel (the straight guy) and Cena (the party guy) should’ve switched roles and can’t get that out of my head either. **3/4
Reminiscence: Hugh Jackman and what feels like half the cast of Westworld star in a sci-fi movie that has all the elements of a big and glossy awesome sci-fi movie besides a hook to really grab anyone. **3/4
Ride the Eagle: An indie movie that runs under an hour-and-a-half that mostly ends up an acting reel for Jake Johnson, who delivers if not demands. Bonus scenes from JK Simmons and D’Arcy Carden (Janet!) too. ***
Black Widow: Marvel on the small screen (and 20-something movies in) hits a little different, but Johansson has always had a command of the title character while Florence Pugh and David Harbour inject some life into the formula. ***1/4
