5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: Fatherhood, Dream Horse, The Tomorrow War, Gunpowder Milkshake, Space Jam A New Legacy

Fatherhood: This pretty basic single dad tries to get it done story is helped along by support from Alfre Woodard, Lil Rey Howery, and Anthony Carrigan (from Barry), though it’s Kevin Hart doing the big dramedy work and he gets it done. ***1/2

Dream Horse: A bunch of Welsh folk buy a horse together and their dream of cheering it on and winning money ensues. Toni Colette does it again. ***1/4

The Tomorrow War: The idea behind this movie is actually really interesting and sure Chris Pratt is a fine dumb action guy but it’s too long and some of the action is just silly. More dumb than fun. **3/4

Gunpowder Milkshake: Support Karen Gillan but this is a victim to just too many flashy quirky revenge action thrillers being out there. Or at least it feels that way. Is Paul Giammati in this movie? Yes. **3/4

Space Jam: A New Legacy: I remember not liking the first Space Jam, one of the first times my young brain experienced the concept of hack. At least that had Bill Murray. It would be so good to be into this for Nostalgic Purposes but it’s an infomercial for the LeBron James brand and a fictional Warner Cinematic Universe that watered down all the cool IP they actually do have access to. Even the Tunes were just kind of pricks. *
