Performance Review – AEW Dynamite: Brodie Lee Tribute Show (12/30/20)

Overall Evaluation and Achieved Goals

This week I explained the loss of Brodie Lee to my wife, who’s relationship with wrestling is let’s say complicated. It isn’t just that a wrestler died suddenly; it’s that a dad with young kids did. One whose legacy is one that not only brought joy to so many people but inspired so many including me to be a better dad and husband and just person.

The badass wrestling was cool too.

Rest in peace and love, Jon Huber.

Performance: 5.0 / 5.0 (PERFECT)

Areas of Excellence Within Performance

A lot has been lost, beyond the obvious. Potential matches – one with Darby would’ve been incredible. A big wrestling dork – cracked a smile at Mox name dropping PRIDE. An especially good man too – one who’s tribute show might’ve officially transitioned wrestling from fake sport to real community.

A lot has been said (with good reason) about how much Mr. Brodie Lee helped out all the young wrestlers in The Dark Order, but it shouldn’t be forgotten how well his presence helped Stu Grayson & Evil Uno recover after a tough start and how effectively he helped introduce Colt Cabana to AEW TV.

The approach to working stories and bad guys into the show was pitch perfect. Human beings run this company.

We know John Silver can go but seeing him do it in the Brodie gear on the Brodie tribute show was even more impressive.

Lost it with both excitement and emotion for Erick Rowan (Redbeard!) running off Wardlow then paying tribute to his old tag partner in the most beautiful adorable way.

“The whole thing is kind of a big rig!”

Respect to Preston “10” Vance for delivering in beyond the biggest spot of his life.

Suggested Areas of Improvement

Nope nope nope.
