Da 5 Bloods: Spike Lee likes to fit and say A LOT in his movies and this is stuffed to the brink with greatness, four veterans returning to Vietnam to retrieve their Captain’s remains. It’s a movie filled with incredible acting work that is both a ton of fun and deathly serious. ****
The King of Staten Island: Really fun movie, up there with Judd Apatow’s best – Pete Davidson can deliver lines like nobody else, and they kept this entertaining and endearing for the usual slightly unnecessary three hours. ****1/4
The High Note: Completely and utterly lame, but just a little bit adorable. **1/2
My Spy: My expectations were low considering the two-year delay and a cringey trailer, but Big Dave Batista came through and blew me away with a completely pleasant family film. This isn’t Tooth Fairy, but it’s a solid entry in the genre. **3/4
Capone: Josh Trank took a break from directing and returned with the kind of film a guy that didn’t really fit within the Studio System wants to make. I can’t even remember much in this movie specifically about Al Capone, but I sure do recall Tom Hardy acting his way through a syphilis and dementia-induced acid trip. ***1/2
