El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie: Ultimately we didn’t need this, but we wanted it – and isn’t that what a monthly subscription service is all about? Right from the start the Breaking Bad boys brought me back in and didn’t let up. This was one incredible heat segment on Jesse Pinkman, a well-made piece of film that simply followed up on and fleshed out one of the all-time great stories. ****1/2
Transparent: The Musicale Finale: It takes a lot for me to not see a show I started through until its’ natural end, so here I was. Ugh. This family sucks. Music didn’t help. *
Night School: This was never going to be high art but I was still kind of let down – the comic cast is impressive, but the caper thread didn’t get me for a second. Dumb. *1/2
Second Act: Look, sometimes I don’t book the movie watching. Jennifer Lopez is still a charmer, that’s all I’ve got. *3/4
Driven: Wild story, fun costumes, Jason Sudeikis, Lee Pace. I’ll take it. **3/4
