Mary Queen of Scotts: As a historical biography, this seemed fine. As a compelling movie… 50/50. Saoirse Ronan continues to be somethin’ special. ***
Bird Box: There’s a whole lot of stuff going on here and it certainly deserved its brief moment in The Zeitgeist, but it’s kind of an all-over-the-place movie. Too much horror movie stuff and people bickering, not enough blindfold tension. Accept it as a B-Movie that for some reason stars Sandra Bullock and John Malkovich and it’s a winner. ***
Unicorn Store: Lots of ideas, lots of quirkiness, lots of IMAGINATION~! I’m not going to recommend it but there’s some kind of pleasantness about this movie existing. **1/2
Knock Down the House: Oh hell yeah. Look – first of all I’m pro-AOC. And if you are anti-AOC, I’d like to hear your reasoning because unless there’s some compelling reason I probably don’t trust you anymore. Either way this is definitely a movie about Democrats, but it’s really about the bullshit that comes with campaigning. Yeah it portrays them as fighting against The Man – BECAUSE THEY ARE. And in the end, it provides hope. And hope, as mocked as it has been for years, is still necessary. ****
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile: A heck of a take on the Ted Bundy story, told mostly through the POV of the courtroom and his girlfriend. It’s not compelling the entire time, but are a lot of great bits here and Efron as Bundy is good stuff. So charming, so wicked. ***3/4
