Triple Frontier: There’s all kinds of manly man stuff going on here, some interesting and some boring. All kinds of big name actors are shooting guns and plotting military operations and Ben Affleck is really really angry. It’s directed by J.C. Chandor, who has a heck of a resume, but feels a little Netflix-y, like it tried too hard to feel big budget yet doesn’t feel as refined as it should be. Kind of a lame finish too. Not bad though. **3/4
The Last Laugh: Chevy Chase and Richard Dreyfus do one of those movies that’s so simple and sweet that it’s hard to hate. **
Paddleton: Mark Duplass has got cancer. Ray Romano is his friend. They talk to each other a lot. Good dialogue. Ray Romano has an incredible monologue scene. Fine movie. ***1/2
High Flying Bird: Steven Soderbergh does it again, that son of a bitch. A movie about NBA operations that you just have to watch unfold. Very good. ****
Velvet Buzzsaw: Look, I love Gilroy and Jakey G but this was a bit much. **
