Colette: Here’s Keira Knightley again, just low-key being one of the finest actors of her generation. This is a movie about a woman who writes a famous book that gets published under her husband’s name and all the madness that comes from that. It is very British and very good. ***1/2
Puzzle: Kelly Macdonald, man. She gets a showcase here against Irrfan Khan who is such a god damn professional. A movie about an unsatisfied housewife that tells that story gently and authentically. Very good. ***3/4
Fahrenheit 11/9: Michael Moore is a lightning rod, but he’s still capable of a charming documentary about how fucked up everything is. ***3/4
Love, Gilda: Gilda Radner was a talent, folks. ***1/2
1985: This is an economical movie at a little under an hour-and-a-half and it does a whole lot with very little. Shot in black-and-white, it starts as a man in conversation with his family back home but unfolds to reveal some incredible stuff. ****
