I Feel Pretty: Absolutely did not deserve the hate it got upon its release from the folks who thought its’ message was fat shaming or the folks who just don’t like Amy Schumer. One place it did deserve hate from though would be the folks tired of very standard rom-coms. I like a lot of people in this but that is very much what it is. **1/4
Blockers: The parents aren’t real people but archetypes, so this movie could’ve easily gone off the rails despite their charms. What carries it is how the kids are these realistic children stuck in a big Hollywood comedy. It’s a breezy fun movie that’s way better than its’ stupid name suggests. ***
Isle of Dogs: Fantastic movie, with great deadpan humor and some legitimately breathtaking visuals. Wes Anderson might have his cliches but he is one of the most unique filmmakers going and I’m glad his vision is available to us, the movie-going public. That this is about a silly rag tag group of dogs is a bonus. ****3/4
Chappaquiddick: Jason Clarke looks just like Ted Kennedy. Otherwise this is an ultra-basic re-telling of a crazy thing that happened. It didn’t really get to the heart of anything, but it recreated the story and aftermath well enough. **3/4
Deadpool 2: Probably a hair beneath the first but this is still a good time, as Ryan Reynolds has created one of the more genuinely interesting superheroes in a world filled with them. The X-Force scene is an all-timer. ***3/4
