Avengers: Infinity War: This is a big crazy wonderful blockbuster of a movie that gets a lot out of all these crazy characters we’ve come to know over the last decade. I can’t say it’s anything super memorable or new for Marvel outside of Thanos, but the way they weaved all the characters together is incredibly impressive. ***3/4
The Catcher Was A Spy: This is an interesting story but told very, very by-the-books and glaringly miscast. Like it’s hard for me to care about a casting choice and compare it versus what could have been, but Paul Rudd isn’t right. He’s earnest, but just not right for the role. And for Godssakes he should have rocked a unibrow. **
First Reformed: Very, very good movie with an excellent Ethan Hawke performance. The premise itself is interesting enough and isn’t told as silly as it could have been. We’re talking religion, we’re talking climate science, and we’re having a good time at the movies. ****
The House of Tomorrow: Great, authentic teen movie with all kinds of interesting stuff going on: futurism, religion, health, family. It’s funny, it’s emotional, and Ron Swanson is playing a dad. ****
Tag: Witness a strong cast carry a fun premise through a movie that probably should have embraced the premise and stop trying to hamfist a story into it. The upping of the game’s ridiculousness was fun to see develop. **3/4
