Gifted: An adorable little movie about an adorable little gifted girl that might be a little cliché but hey that’s the movies. ***1/4
Landline: This never really “grabbed me” as they say but the performances is good and I think Jenny Slate is very good at her job. A solid 90s period piece about family. ***1/4
My Blind Brother: Adam Scott, Jenny Slate, and Nick Kroll lead a direct-to-DVD romantic comedy. Yeah baby. ***
Colossal: Fascinating, weird monster movie with Anne Hathaway. I liked this a lot – interesting premise that keeps building until shit gets really really crazy. ****
The Meyerowitz Stories: Perhaps the Noah Baumbach-iest of Noah Baumbach movies. And I like Noah Baumbach movies, but like any director who has had success he is veering off into doing whatever he wants and in this case whatever he wanted to do was create a movie about some kind of annoying rich people. Sandler and Stiller doing dramatic stuff is still good though. ***
