5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: Logan Lucky, Tour de Pharmacy, Fun Mom Dinner, The Little Hours, Ingrid Goes West

Logan Lucky: Steven Soderbergh knows how to make a very efficient movie. This is a fun heist film with some wacky characters, but more than anything I was just impressed at the craftmanship. You can feel it. ***1/2

Tour de Pharmacy: Andy Samberg and friends are havin’ a laugh and doing impressions on HBO for about 45 minutes. John Cena is here! ***

Fun Mom Dinner: A movie that rode the success of the Bad Moms gimmick, though manages to stand out on its own with fun cast that includes Toni Collette, Molly Shannon, and Paul Rudd and David Wain bantering about in a cameo where one of them is named Wayne and the other Brady. It’s a little dumb and has nothing new to say, but brings the light-hearted fun. **3/4

The Little Hours: Really funny, great cast, great idea, great aesthetic. Good good good. ***1/2

Ingrid Goes West: This features a great lead performance by Aubrey Plaza but never fully embraces how weird it could be. So a solid flick, but also feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. ***1/4
