5 Star Movies

5 Star Movies: Inferno, Office Christmas Party, The Founder, Paterson, My Life as a Zucchini

Inferno: Probably the weakest the Langdon movies, but Hanks is still Hanks. Not as terrible as reviews would suggest, though the big heel turn twist at the end wasn’t as cool as it could’ve been. **

Office Christmas Party: Harmless fun… I didn’t buy all the IT stuff but there’s too many quality talents here for this to not be at a minimum solid. **3/4

The Founder: My goodness was this great. Michael Keaton plays a wonderful bonafide piece of shit in Ray Kroc, while Nick Offerman and John Caroll Lynch bring it as the the sympathetic McDonald Brothers. What an American story. ****

Paterson: Very much a character study, for better or worse. There are wonderful poems and shots of New Jersey and Driver is likable. But though it didn’t need to have a fight scene or anything, it just felt more understated than I was wanting. And I dig understated. ***1/2

My Life as a Zucchini: Affecting, quality little animated film that’s just over an hour. I loved the designs of all the kids, and felt for the main character, maaaan. ****1/4
